The town of Clifton held its 47th Annual Festival on Oct. 12 with hundreds of vendors, musicians, artisans and visitors.

Clifton closes for local traffic and tents were lined up and down Main and side streets.

Visitors sampled home made popcorn, honey, barbeque and wine. Children enjoyed funnel cakes, face painting and pony rides. Visitors were treated to music from a strolling banjo player, a bagpiper, and performances from local musicians and music groups. It was even possible to get a kiss from a bulldog dog with a small donation to the Bulldog Rescue fund.

Every shop in Clifton was open and provided treats while the local fire department offered tours. Local artisans demonstrated their crafts and answered questions. Visitors found unique items and many had their arms full of Virginia-made tables, food items, and crafts.

In attendance was the 49th Virginia Infantry Reenactment civil war group that has been coming to Clifton’s Annual Festival for thirty-one years. Each member follows original designs from the Civil War period in making their outfits. In addition, Michael Ahnell from Bridgewater, N.J. and Jim Haner of Williamsport, Pa. brought their respective bagpipes and banjo to Clifton to entertain the visitors of all ages.
